There are six (I think six?) kingdoms that are all at odds , and there are different dragons that are not at peace with humans. The fire dragon is contained by the mountain and a spell shared by the Faodaran and Antharian people, but there is also the glass dragon, in the Glass Forest – this dragon becomes important. But after she is lowered into the cave of the mountain, things start to change. She and Golmarr fight to stay alive, and Sorrowlynn, while still a weak, soft girl, slowly becomes stronger.

I had to skim through some parts because I was so bored and could have cared less what happened to anyone or anything. Thank you, Random House Children’s, for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The romance was a little quicker than I prefer it but at the same time I understand why and it wasn’t horribly back that it was a turn off, so over all in that department it was good.

Episodes were released simultaneously, as opposed to a serialized format, to encourage binge-watching, a format which has been successful for other Netflix original series. Her parents hate her, because her fate is to die by her owns hands. She doesn’t want to marry the heir of Anthar, but she also doesn’t want to be fed to the dragon. And she certainly doesn’t want to be trapped in a lonely, miserable, sheltered life with her parents, who abhor her. I know it’ll be a book I reread often and I can’t wait for the next book. I will admit to being completely wary about this book.

I kinda liked the love story even though it was instalove. Specific values of each of the coins have not yet been mentioned in any of the canon works of A Song of Ice and Fire. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series! In book two, I would like to see more evil dragons, more history on the dragon’s magic, and a looooot more kissing between Golmarr and Sorrowlynn. As the story unfolds we get to discover past reasons, the truth about dragons and more. I ended putting the book aside for a day before reading the last chapters. They are so sweet and their relationship is true and meaningful. I highly recommend this book if you love dragons, a high fantasy world, and a mystery that ensnares two kingdoms.

But hey, we know that from the start, since it’s clearly stated in the blurb. What is not stated, though, is that the love interest is one of the main reasons why she decides to die. But girl, you didn’t think about anyone else but your little self.

It had romance, fighting, and, of course, dragons. Sorrow has the choice of offering herself in marriage to the ‘barbarian’ horse clan or being fed to the dragon. But, what do you know, horse prince Golmarr to the freaking rescue.

It does have a young adult feel but is well written and doesn’t have that teen stupidity that turns me away from teen books. This was just a very different, fast paced, action packed book that I could not put down. I am looking forward to the 2nd and will love rereading this when all three are out. Hopefully she can keep the same feel of this book. I was so surprised by the formula of this books, most dragon books are written in the same way, this is so different! There is some serious action and fighting I don’t want to give anything away but there is lots of blood and death and fighting. There is some great kisses and tension between the hero and heroine and it is a pg13 feel.

So we got these two kingdoms that are bound by a promise a vow to marry their heirs to one another, or forfeit their lives to the dragon. Apparently it’s because many years ago a war waged and a dragon was released and now to keep the dragon bound by magic, this needs to happen every time there is an heir. Or, the princess can reject the proposed marriage – should dragon price it come – and be fed to the dragon. The overall premise of the story is interesting and, come on, who doesn’t love the promise of dragons? Unfortunately the ONLY interesting thing in the story were the dragons and even then they weren’t that great. Other than that the plot was boring more than half the time and it was predictable, NOTHING new or original at all.

The Dragon Prince

I did not like this book and I’m really sorry to say that since I was really looking forward to this book. There was nothing in here redeemable for me so it’s a bit of a total loss. Princess Sorrowlynn is NOT a badass, fantasy heroine so if you’re here for that you will not be finding it! She’s unskilled and honestly makes some very drastic, stupid decisions such as choosing to be fed to a dragon over being married to a “barbarian”. She also turns out to be quite the “special snowflake”…. Overall the story is bland, boring, unoriginal, and unexciting.
