Stages of dental implantation
Stages of dental implantation
|1. The first step of implantation, regardless of how a classical technique should be applied will be careful planning. Scheduling in its turn implies a preliminary assessment of the patient’s condition. It is not only a thorough examination of the oral cavity to identify its anatomical features, but mandatory use of modern methods of imaging and medical imaging. Health examinations of other organs and systems are also play an important role. This is justified because at the heart of the implantation lies a stage of surgical treatment. So, it is necessary to examine the general condition of the body, blood tests, x-rays, if necessary, conduct a preliminary treatment. Such treatment may relate both to the oral cavity and in the whole organism. At the same time the doctor plans stages of classical dental implantation.|
2 . Surgical stage. It is actually implantation. The support portion of the implant – artificial titanium tooth root is embedded in the jawbone. Surgical stage is performed under local anesthesia and is to install the implant into the jawbone. Duration of implant placement may vary substantially. But on the average commensurate with the time setting of the majority of surgeries is about 40-50 minutes. If the implant is put in the tooth hole, lost many years ago, it is often necessary to resort to pre- surgical treatment, because on the spot defective dentition does not develop normal bone tissue. In contrast, the no-load structure of the bone becomes insufficient for implant placement. Another reason is a lack of space for the implant in the dentition. A doctor has to resort to implant osteoplastic materials or use of membranes. Only after that one can install the implant itself. It’s somewhat addictive process of restoring teeth, but guarantees the reliability of the future prosthesis. Thus, in the classical stages of implantation there are various additional activities, and the doctor must be prepared to them. Naturally, all this is discussed during the planning phase. With long-term absence of teeth a process of “resorption” bones is observed, because of tooth absence in the jaw. This bone defect may be related to the anatomy of the jaws. In these cases the implant is hard to place in the bone (bone is too thin), so manipulation is performed first to recover a bone defect. This operation – “bone grafting” is carried out by several methods, usually by using osteoplastic materials and membranes. A surgery on the upper jaw is called “sinus lift”. This step is not always carried out.
3. Installation of abutment. This stage of classical dental implantation also belongs to the category of surgical stages, although it is limited to only a small traumatic portion of the mucosa. After installation of the abutment it requires only one week to complete the entire stage of prosthetics.
4. Orthopedic stage is the last stage of classical dental implantation. It’s a stage when tooth crown or denture attached to the abutment. Orthopedic stage of treatment completes the creation of “ready to use” design.
However, each of these steps of classical dental implantation has its organizational and technical features, its timing and sequence of actions. The most important is the first stage of dental implants – treatment planning and patient preparation for implantation. The most critical and complicated from a medical point of view is the surgical stage, because it is necessary to prevent the possibility of complications and to create conditions for a speedy and quality of engraftment implant. And it should be remembered that the longevity of the implant will depend primarily on whether the patient will perform hygienic measures and medical advice. After all, while preserving the step of using the implant Alpha Dent will have a duration of more than 10 years.
